Year 11 Pride Letters
Dear Parents and Carers
Year 11 students are currently entering the crucial final stretch towards their GCSE examinations and BTEC qualifications and with this in mind, we are writing to request your support in a project we are running.
We are asking parents/carers to write a confidential letter for their child, to give them encouragement and support in the lead up to the start of their summer exams. We like to call these ‘Pride Letters’ as it is a great opportunity for you to put into words how proud of them you are.
Very few of us receive personal letters in today’s world, and in previous years when we have run this initiative, students have really appreciated the letters of support from their loved ones and to realise they are not going through this tough time on their own. Here is an example:
As you approach your GCSE exams, we wanted to take a moment to tell you just how incredibly proud we are of you.
Over the past few months, we’ve watched you grow—not just in knowledge, but in character. The way you have approached your revision, even on the days when you felt tired or overwhelmed, has shown real determination and maturity.
But more than anything, we are proud of the person you are. Your kindness, your sense of humour, your resilience, and the way you treat others with respect mean far more to us than any grade ever could. The effort you put in, the positive attitude you show, and the way you conduct yourself at school and at home speak volumes about your character. Exams are important, but they do not define you.
As you walk into each exam, remember that we believe in you completely. Stay calm, take your time, and trust in the preparation you’ve done. Whatever happens, we will love you and will always be proud of you—not for what you achieve, but for who you are.
