Strike Action – Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May
Dear Parents/Carers
Members of the National Education Union have voted for further industrial action which will impact BBA. The strikes – the result of a dispute between union members and Government – are scheduled for Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May.
This will result in disruption to our usual routines, and some scheduled lessons will be unable to go ahead. As ever, student wellbeing remains our priority, and careful risk assessments have been carried out to assess which lessons and activities can safely continue. I can now share our plans for the two above dates.
At BBA the following will apply on both Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May
- The Academy will be open to Year 11 only, the expectation is that they must attend school on both days. The Year 11 GCSE Art and GSCE Photography exam will be running as scheduled, this is an externally assessed exam.
- The Academy will be closed to Years 7, 8, 9 and 10.
- In addition, a small number of students will be invited to attend, and we will communicate directly with these individual families.
- If your child is entitled to Free School Meals, we will be providing a lunch bag on both strike days which will be available to collect from the Academy from 11am onwards on Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May. In order for us to reduce wastage and order the correct quantity, please can you call the Academy Reception on 0117 3772700, by 9am this Friday, 21st April, to confirm whether you require a lunch bag for your child.
I am sure we all hope for a swift resolution to this dispute which will satisfy all parties. We recognise and respect the right of our staff to take part in industrial action and, while I understand this situation may be frustrating, your continued support for our school at this time is appreciated.
I do hope this will allow you to plan ahead for any disruption. Should you have any further questions, do please contact the Academy.
Kind regards
Jen Cusack
Vice Principal
