Principal Announcement

Dear Parents and Carers

I am delighted to confirm that Jen Cusack has been confirmed as the school’s new Principal,
following my move to an Executive Principal role with the Cabot Learning Federation.

Ms Cusack is of course already well known within the school community, having been an invaluable
part of the team at Bristol Brunel Academy for the past 20 years. She became Vice Principal in
January 2022, and most recently worked as Head of School while we conducted our search for a
permanent Principal.

The decision to appoint Ms Cusack follows a rigorous and extensive recruitment process.
Ms Cusack shone amid a high-calibre field of external candidates during a two-day interview and
assessment process designed to test candidates’ skills, knowledge and competence across a wide
range of relevant disciplines. The interview panel felt she had been able to express a deep
connection with and understanding of the Bristol Brunel community, as well as an appetite to
continue to serve this community into the next stage of the school’s journey.

I know Ms Cusack is excited to be stepping into her role as Principal, and I am confident she is the
right person to lead the Academy forward towards a bright future. It has been the greatest privilege
of my career to lead this community for the last decade and I leave the Academy knowing it will
continue to thrive under new leadership.
